Our Women - The Fabric of our Society
This painting places silhouettes of people in the foreground hinting at them being women based on the outline of the clothing that is being worn. As the eye travels upwards, one of the women is seen to be carrying an item on her head, making the connection to traditional African customs. This adds context to which society is potentially being spoken of.
There are also various other symbols such as the silhouette of the camel and the mosque in the background that hints at another society.
Both of these opposing societies become interwoven throughout the painting reinforcing the initial concept of fabric.
